What an interesting time to go to the United Kingdom!!! I was there for the entire month of August, 2014 and as many may know in mid-September of 2014 Scotland had a referendum to vote on whether they should declare independence from England! Well, as we now know the vote was a “NO” and they are still part of the United Kingdom. Overall impressions of each part of the country however go as such:
England- I’m going to be a bit unfair here because I really only spent a few days in England and those few days were in London. So while I can’t speak for any part of England except London, I will say that as far as London goes, I wasn’t terribly impressed. While I did greatly appreciate the various safety signs painted around town (look left, look right, mind the gap!) and the fabulously done Free Walking Tour, I otherwise just found London to be too overpriced and a lot of the people to be cold. Also, if you are a fan of mixed drinks just SKIP them and stick to beer because they won’t be made the way you like them… Just saying!!
Scotland on the other hand impressed me around every corner and left me wanting more!! There is so much to do in Scotland, especially if you love the outdoors (and don’t mind the cold!!) and there is just so much beauty in every little bit of the country! I can’t say enough about it really, but I sure will try in the in-depth sections below:)
